THE FRANK MILLS PREMIER NEW SKETCH SHOW AT THE BLUE THEATRE
February 22nd- February 24th the Austin-based, award-winning comedic ensemble perform a workshop production of their upcoming sketch show “One Classy-Ass Show” in preparation for May 2007 run.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 24, 2007 Austin, TX —- Veteran comedic performers – The Frank Mills – are proud announce three workshop performances of their upcoming sketch show “One Classy-Ass Show” on Thursday, February 22nd, Friday, February 23rd and Saturday, February 24th, 2007 at 8:00pm at The Blue Theatre (916 Springdale Rd, Austin, TX).
 

With direction from former Second City Chicago director and cast member Dave Buckman, “One Classy-Ass Show” presents hilarious and subversive sketch comedy inspired by personal, social, political and commercial issues in Austin and beyond.  Sketches include the outing of an Austinite who admits he can’t drive in the rain, a dark, musical take on the hard realities facing an economically-depressed rural town, and a dance tribute to the presidential candidacy of Barack Obama.Coming off of their recent B. Iden Payne Award for Most Outstanding Improvisational Theatre Ensemble 2005-2006 and being voted Best Troupe 2006 by the Austin Improv Collective, the Frank Mills are excited to present this limited engagement as a preview for the month-long run in May 2007. “By using improvisational sets from the last two years to develop the sketches featured in the show, the Frank Mills are carrying on the proud tradition of comedy begun by the Compass Players and Second City” says director, Dave Buckman.  “We are excited to continue this comedic tradition in Austin with Classy-Ass, while expanding our reputation for thoughtful, character-driven work to Austin’s theatre-going audience”.  Individually, ensemble members have written, directed and performed in Austin since 2004, garnering critical and audience acclaim for various comedy productions including recent runs at Coldtowne Theatre (Rachel Madorsky in “You’re Fat”), Frontera Fest at Hyde Park (“McNichol & May: Great Americans”, 2006 Best of Fest Selection) and as original cast members of the Austin production of “Whirled News Tonight”.  In addition to performance, they teach at both the Hideout Theatre and Coldtowne Conservatory and lead workshops at festivals around the country.The Frank Mills consist of actors that have trained and performed extensively at some of the world’s foremost comedy institutions, including the Second City (Chicago and Cleveland), Improv Olympic (Chicago), BOOM Chicago (Amsterdam, The Netherlands), ComedySportz (Chicago and Austin) and The Annoyance Theatre (Chicago).
